CIF State Finalist Tanja Amizic Sends Verbal to Penn for 2027

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Irvine Novaquatics’ Tanja Amizic has announced her commitment to the admissions process at the University of Pennsylvania as a part of the Quaker women’s 2027 recruiting class.

Amzic wrote the following regarding her commitment.

I am so excited to announce my commitment to the admissions process at the University of Pennsylvania to continue my athletic and academic career! I am forever grateful for all my friends, family, and wonderful coaches at NOVA, especially Coach Ken and Coach John, for their constant support and guidance. A special thank you to Coach Mike, Coach Emma, and Coach Andrew for giving me this incredible opportunity. GO QUAKERS!! 💙❤️

Amizic hails from Irvine, Calif., where she represents Woodbridge High School. At the CIF State Championships in May, Amizic swam to a pair of finals, including a championship final in the 100 free, where she finished 8th in 50.63. She also finished 10th in the 100 back, where she clocked a career best 54.89.

Amizic primarily specializes in freestyle, where she holds a 200 free best of 1:49.49 from the Armada Senior Tri Meet in February, and a 500 free best of 4:58.18 from the November Legends of Coaching Meet. She also holds solid backstroke and IM ability, boasting a 200 back best of 2:01.12, and IM best times of 2:03.59 and 4:27.57, respectively.

Best Times SCY:

  • 100 Free: 50.33
  • 200 Free: 1:49.49
  • 500 Free: 4:58.18
  • 100 Back: 54.89
  • 200 Back: 2:01.12
  • 200 IM: 2:03.59
  • 400 IM: 4:27.57

The Penn women finished as runners-up to Princeton at the 2026 Ivy League Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships this past season.

Amizic’s best times would have finished 14th in the 100 free and 200 free, and 22nd in the 500 at those Ivy League Women’s Championships.

With conference-ready scoring times and still a full season out from making her debut for Penn, Amizic is in a great position to be a big-time contender in each of her collegiate seasons.

The only two Penn women who would have finished ahead of her in the 200 free at Ivies, Senior Anna Moehn and Junior Jenna Jacobs, neither of them will still be on the team come Amizic’s debut, leaving a clear path for her to assume a leading role in the freestyle department.

Though in the 100 free, both championship finalists for Penn, Amy Qin and Kayla Fu, who finished 6th and 7th, respectively, just wrapped up their sophomore seasons, meaning there will be at least a year in which Penn will have plenty of scoring power on the roster in the 100 free.

Amizic joins Zoey Aydin, Livia Cremer, Quinn Norlander, Brynn Lewis, Ginger Strickland, and Lori Jiang in the Penn women’s 2027 recruiting class.
