The 2026 Longhorn Elite Invite starts tonight with the 800 freestyle and will run through Sunday, and the star-studded Texas Pro Group highlights the psych sheets for what is otherwise a small meet.
The top swimmers in the world, Summer McIntosh and Leon Marchand, are both scheduled to race in Austin this weekend, as both of them are swimming their primary events.
McIntosh is entered in the 100 free, 400 free, 200 butterfly, 200 IM, and 400 IM. She is the world record holder in the 400 free, 200 IM, and 400 IM and she has been clear that the 200 fly world record is her next major goal.
The 100 free shows a slight deviation from her best event lineup, but this will not be her first time racing the event this season, and she will have some fierce competition with fellow Texas pro Simone Manuel and University of Texas swimmers Nikolett Padar and Lillie Nesty.
Marchand is entered in almost the exact same events, minus the 200 fly: 100 free, 400 free, 200 IM, and 400 IM. He holds the world records in both IM events.
In the 400 free, he is seeded 2nd, about a second behind Texas pro Rex Maurer‘s top seeded time of 3:43.33. He is also outside the top spot in the 100 free, where he is seeded 6th in 49.70.
Hubert Kos is entered in the 100 back, 200 back, 100 fly (2nd seed), 200 fly, and 200 IM (6th seed). He is the top seed in the 100 back, 200 back, and 200 fly.
Tyler Ray, Jack Aikins, and Jack Wilkening will be making their debuts with the Texas pro group.
Ray and Wilkening just wrapped up their collegiate careers at Michigan in March. Ray is entered in the 100 fly, 200 fly, and 100 free while Wilkening is in the 50 back, 100 back, and 200 back.
Aikins recently graduated from the University of Virginia and joined the team for their training camp in Colorado Springs a few weeks ago. He is also entered in the 50, 100, and 200 backstroke events.

Prelims for Summer this morning:
200 fly: 2:02.62
400 free: 3:55.37
Finals this evening. Amazing times, go Summer!🌝
WTF???
Ya got me, Lily.
Why are you doing this?
Honest mistake!
Clearly I misread that. Ugh
😂
Sorry for being mean. I guess you listed SBs.
Oh gosh
Sorry everyone!!
I was reading ranking time as prelim time.
I got ahead of myself.
200 fly: 2:10.9
400 free: not posted yet
Do you know if we can watch in livestream ?
Summer not swimming the Commonwealth Games would be one of the most stupid decisions in sporting history.
Is? Or would be? Because she’s not…
😂
And…she has good reasons.
What reason’s
See ScotiaNova below. (Or will it be above after I post?) No need to repeat.
Why?? It would be tough to do both meets, she has no need to raise her profile, Commonwealth Games are not particularly important in Canada anymore (compared to how they seem to be in Australia).
She’s already been to CG in 2022 but hasn’t had a chance to go to PanPacs yet. Makes sense to me.
She could fall into the water at the Com Games and win a couple gold.
As someone who remembers the commonwealth games as the big event it used to be, I get it. But the Pan Pacs, in swimming, have surpassed the commonwealth games by a fair margin. The USA, Japan, China have made the pan pacs the higher standard meet in terms of compitition. Summer is THE prime time swimmer, so she’ll go where the lights are brightest and in 2026, the lights are brightest in Irvine!
A little disappointing to see Shane only swimming three events. But realistically the 100 and 200 free are no longer feasible for him to be on a long course relay. It’s going to take 47.5, 1:45 low just for a prelims spot on relays now and I don’t think he’s doing that.
Eh, he was 47.9 in the 100 free at nationals where he clearly wasn’t tapered and 1:46 multiple times at meets where he’s like 1:56 in the IM. I don’t think we’ve seen any of his other events kinda take that next leap forward like we have with his IM yet
You never know what meet Shane will smart at. Meaning just because he’s tapered doesn’t necessarily mean he’s going season beats.
I’m mostly in agreement. I think 2024 SC Worlds was pretty good and 2025 Worlds was a weird one. I’m hoping we see a complete version of Shaine this summer at Pan Pacs.
Only 4 American men in the last 6 years have gone under 47.5. How would it take a 47.5 to come 6th at trials?
Because people tend to get faster as time goes on.
So you think that in order to come 6th at a trials meet, you automatically must be faster than the 4th fastest time in the last 6 years? That’s nonsense.
In the 6 years leading up to Tokyo the 4th fastest American woman was a 53.4. The trials winner was a 53.5. Sixth was a 54.1 lol
Carson dropped 3.5 seconds from his 800 at a meet where he went 3:45 and 4:07 in the 400s
Kind of a bummer he’s not in them this weekend. That 200 free will be a fast one though
many events have 8 or fewer swimmers entered
will they still swim morning prelims
Dude!!
SM 100 free with The Core 4? Did she lose an argument or did Bob?
Aw come on downvoters, tell me who lost. 😂
You lost
But I’m not swimming.
Where’s Carson? Is he not swimming?
He’s on the psych sheet..
7:52 for the win over Rex in the 800
What did Rex go
7:52.00 for Carson and 7:52.71 for Rex
and most of that time drop came from the final 100 for Carson, from the US Open
