Madeline Padavic of Downers Grove, IL has announced her decision to swim for the Miami University RedHawks beginning in the fall of 2021. The backstroke specilast is a senior at Downers Grove South High School and she swims year-round for Hornet Swim Club.

Padavic recently competed at the IHSA Girls Sectional Championships at Hinsdale Central, swimming the 100 fly and back and the 200 IM. She finished 4th in the 200 IM (2:07.66), 3rd in the 100 back (57.27), and she took home the gold medal in the 100 fly (56.90) after out-touching Downers Grove North High School’s Olivia Asay by 0.04 seconds.
In November, Padavic went on to compete at the IHSA State meet in the 100 fly, and the 200 free and medley relays. She led off her team’s 200 medley relay, splitting a personal best 50 backstroke time of 26.79. She made it back in the B-final of the 100 fly, going a a 56.19 in prelims. She finished 11th in finals. Finally, she split a 50 free time of 23.58 while swimming the 3rd leg of Downers Grove South’s 200 free relay.
In March, Padavic competed at the Illinois Swimming Senior Champs, going best times in the 200 free (1:53.80), 200 back (2:04.40), and 100 fly (55.95). She was entered in the meet in the 50, 100, 200 free, 100 and 200 back, 100 fly, and 200 IM, making it back for finals swims in the 100 and 200 free, the 200 back, and the 100 fly. Padavic will join the Miami University women’s team in the fall of 2021. She will be a part of a strong recruiting class consisting of Emily Rinker, Emily Schueler, Erin Szczupakiewicz, Natalie Stump, Jordyn Homoki, Katheryn Antoniwich, Maggie Stock, Lauren Murray, and Taylor Connors.
