2018 EDINBURGH INTERNATIONAL SWIM MEET

The 2018 Edinburgh International Meet, incorporating the British Swimming Championships, is set to kick off tomorrow, March 1st, but some swimmers may be delayed due to a giant snow storm.

Per the government’s Met Office (weather department), Edinburgh is identified within a ‘red zone’, between 15:00 local today through 10:00 local tomorrow, March 1st. This categorization includes heavy snow showers and drifting of lying snow with strong winds. Long delays on bus, rail and air travel are expected.

Meet organizers are regularly updating a ‘weather news’ page on their site regarding any changes that may take place with the event due to the weather situation. The latest post reads, “Following a further meeting we remain in a position to go ahead as advertised and begin the meet tomorrow morning. Updates will be posted on this page is the situation changes throughout this evening or overnight.”

Earlier today, organizers posted, “We are monitoring the weather conditions here in Edinburgh and the pool remains open for athlete training. All options and possibilities are currently being explored, we are doing everything we can to ensure that the event will start as planned tomorrow. Please check back for further updates as this situation is constantly developing.”

Well, we at least know Olympic silver medalist James Guy arrived:
