Skyline sophomore Sarah Dimeco picked up two individual wins and was instrumental on relays to help lead her school to the Washington Girls 4A State title. Dimeco was a force in the freestyles, picking up wins in the 200 free and 500 free. She slipped under the 1:50 mark in the 200 (1:49.37) and swam to a win in the 500 with a 4:51.00. Dimeco also anchored Skyline’s runner up 200 medley relay (23.39) and their winning 400 free relay (51.91).
Dimeco’s quick anchor leg in the medley was not enough to come back on Jackson, who was lifted by senior Nicole Limberg‘s 29.05 breaststroke split. She impressed for Jackson, picking up two wins of her own later on in the meet. In the 200 IM, she posted a 2:02.28 for the victory, while she added a 1:02.23 to take the 100 breast. The latter race was very close between Limberg and Isabelle Dressel of Wenatchee– Dressel settled for second (1:02.56). Wenatchee actually surged to a 5-point lead over Skyline after that race, thanks to Dressel’s big swim, but Dimeco and Skyline proved too strong in the 400 free relay for Wenatchee to snatch the title away.
Inglemoor sophomore Gabrielle Dang doubled up in the sprint freestyles, taking both the 50 (23.06) and the 100 (50.83). Meanwhile, Mount Vernon junior Emma Carlton easily took the 100 fly with a 54.01. The 100 back went to Carlton’s teammate and fellow junior, Emma Frey (55.77). In the 200 free relay, Kamiak popped a 1:37.74 which broke the 4A record. Skyline ended up ahead of Wenatchee in final scoring by a slim margin of 11 points.
