5 Focus Points on Day 3 of Men’s NCAAs

Garrett McCaffrey and Morgan Priestley break down 3 reasons you shouldn’t miss prelims and 2 things to watch for at the final session of the 2013 Men’s NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. If you missed prelims, you missed Kevin Cordes doing what many would’ve called impossible, dipping under 1:50 in the 200 breaststroke. If you missed prelims, you missed Michigan locking down their 12th title in school history (2nd in the last 50 years and first since 1995). They got the top spot in the 400 free relay, and put 2 up and 2 down in the 200 fly. Cal, missed in the A final in the 400 Free Relay and their defending 200 fly champ, Will Hamilton also had to settle for a spot in the B final. Tonight in the finals watch Vlad Morozov go after two 100 freestyles. In the individual event he’s the top seed and has a shot to become the fastest man in the event, ever. In the 400 free relay he has a shot to split under :40 if he’s got enough left in the tank. Also must see, the final in the 200 backstroke where there’s a good chance that 4 guys could dip under 1:40. 5 sessions down, 1 to go!
