Virginia scored 161 points on Saturday to secure their fifth-straight NCAA women's swimming and diving title. Current photo via Jack Spitser/Spitser Photography
Virginia, who led or were tied for first in the team standings after 20 of the 21 events (all but the 200 IM), won their fifth consecutive NCAA Division I Women’s Championships on Saturday night with 544 points, 16.5 more than their 2024 tally. The Cavaliers scored 161 points on Day 4, only 2 points short of where they were seeded.
Cal had the biggest overperformance on Day 3, adding 15 points more than the projection. They came within 7 points of overtaking Louisville at 7th place in the team rankings. It capped a strong weekend for the Golden Bears, who finished 11th a year ago.
Indiana (+13) and Florida (+10) had double digit gains, as well, while Texas (-40), Tennessee (-14), and NC State (-13) were off their seeds.

Day 4 Seed vs Score – Swimming Only (including 1650 free and 400 free relay)
I do think it’s interesting that when texas swimmers have been doing well this year people say Bowman’s training has been paying off but when they underperform people blame Capitani
If someone has time maybe they can look at blending with final swims. By discipline would be interesting as well.

It’s interesting to see that Texas and Tennessee had almost the exact same swimming and relay numbers. Pretty incredible that, due to Texas’ diving prowess, Tennessee was never really considered a serious top contender or given enough credit for how much they scored in the pool. I forget how important diving is to the team title. Indiana and Texas really benefit from such strong diving programs.

Do we think the 3 runner up teams will cut their diving programs and forfeit all those points next year? 🤭
Anne Lepesant is the mother of four daughters, all of whom swam in college. With an undergraduate degree from Princeton (where she was an all-Ivy tennis player) and an MBA from INSEAD, she worked for many years in the financial industry, both in France and the U.S. Anne is currently …

Carol Capitani should be fired.

I wonder why that could be 🤔
The University of Texas women’s swimming program is the most overhyped and overrated in NCAA history.
