The NCAA has released the cut-line official psych sheets for the upcoming Division II Swimming & Diving Championships, which pares down the pre-selection lists into the official list of swimmers selected to attend this year’s meet in Indianapolis. As we did with the official Division III psych sheets, we’re scoring out the Division II psych sheets based on swimmers’ seed times.
As a reminder, the psych sheets do not account for the divers, who have a separate qualification process. Therefore, while this is not a complete picture of the meet, scoring out the psych sheets does give a sense of the momentum in the pool, and also makes it easier to catch any teams outperforming their projections once the meet gets underway. While scored psych sheets are a useful predictor, more so they help set the stage for the championships.
Women
The Nova Southeastern women are aiming for a three-peat next month, but it’s going to tight. Last year, the three teams at the top of the 2025 projections all cracked 400 points. Nova Southeastern defended its title, scoring 487 points and beating Colorado Mesa 25.5 points. Drury finished third with 400.5 points.
The scored psych sheet correctly predicted the top five women’s teams at last year’s NCAA Division II Championships. This year, based on the swimming events, it projects another close race, with Drury coming out on top, 4.5 points ahead of Nova Southeastern, with Colorado Mesa slightly back at 403 points.
Nova Southeastern notably graduated star Emily Trieschmann, who won 2023 & 2024 Division II Female Swimmer of the Year. At her last NCAA Championships, Trieschmann swept her four individual events, scoring a perfect 80 points. With Trieschmann and Colorado Mesa’s Benedict Nagy, the two top female scorers at the 2024 NCAA Championships, there’s an opportunity for all swimmers to take advantage of.

Men
Last year, the Tampa men won their first team title in program history. They won the 800 freestyle relay and the 500 freestyle at the championships, but largely used their depth to score 473 points, beating Drury, the runner-up, by 64 points. The 2024 psych sheets correctly predicted the finish order of the top three teams, though had Colorado Mesa finishing ahead of McKendree for 4th.
This year, Tampa has made a lot of noise during the regular season, led by Jacob Hamlin rewriting the NCAA Division II record book in the 500/1000/1650 freestyle. Cedric Buessing took over the 500 freestyle record during his conference championships, but though Hamlin was a three-time ‘A’ finalist in 2024 (and won bronze in the 1000 free) he enters the meet in a much different place than a year ago, as does the whole team as they attempt their first title defense.
However, the scored psych sheets project it will be the Drury men victoriously jumping in the pool. Based on their seed times, Drury is projected to score 485.5 points, outpacing the Tampa men by 26.5 points. It should come down to those two teams, as McKendree’s got a 352 point total based on the psych sheets. It won’t be impossible for them to move up, but they’ll likely need to improve by at least 100 points to get involved in the race for the team title.
