2025 LITHUANIAN SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS

Throughout the 2025 Lithuanian Swimming Championships, 16-year-old Tajus Juska has continued to impress, with the last day being no exception.

Racing in the final of the men’s 100m butterfly, the European Junior Championships multi-medalist pumped out a new national record effort of 52.46.

Juska opened in 24.35 and closed in 28.11 to beat a seasoned field, one which included 24-year-old Denys Kesil. Kesil settled for silver nearly a second behind in 53.21 while Andrius Sidlauskas rounded out the podium in 53.21.

The former Lithuanian national standard in this event rested at the 52.55 Deividas Margevicius put on the books nearly 6 years ago, so Juska sliced .09 off that former benchmark.

Entering this competition, Juska’s 1fly career-quickest checked in at the 54.12 put on the books in February of 2024. He lowered that down significantly to 53.76 in this morning’s heats before unleashing the 52.46 that entered entirely new territory for the teen.

For perspective, Juska’s time would render him the 4th-fastest American 15- and 16-year-old boy in history.

Additional Notes

  • Olympian Danas Rapsys earned gold in the men’s 400m free in a time of 3:51.61, well outside his lifetime best of 3:43.36 from 2019.
  • The women’s 100m free saw Patricija Kondraskaite get it done for gold in a time of 56.43, a new lifetime best by just under half a second.
  • Kotryna Teterevkova punched a time of 1:07.35 to win the women’s 100m breast, while Sidlauskas reaped gold in the men’s 50m breast in 27.38. Both outings were outside the World Championshps qualifying criteria.
