16-Yr-Old Tajus Juska Denies Olympian Danas Rapsys Gold In 100 Free at LTU Championships

2025 LITHUANIAN SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS

Day three unfolded from the 2025 Lithuanian Swimming Championships in Vilnius, with teenager Tajus Juska making his mark in another men’s freestyle event.

After taking the 50m free on night one, 16-year-old Juska busted out a time of 48.91 to win the 100m free this evening, beating Olympian Danas Rapsys in the process.

Juska stopped the clock at a time of 48.91, a result within range of the lifetime best of 48.74 he notched for gold at last year’s European Junior Championships.

29-year-old Rapsys settled for silver this evening in a time of 49.09 while Kristupas Trepocka rounded out the podium in 49.74.

The World Aquatics ‘A’ standard sits at 48.34 so no one qualified for Singapore during tonight’s final.

On the women’s side, Patricija Kondraskaite topped the 50m free podium in a result of 25.57, the 2nd-swiftest outing of her career.

Anete Bollverk was next to the wall in 25.86 and Barbora Mileisyte earned bronze in 25.96.

We saw Denys Kesil and Kotryna Teterevkova make the grade for this summer’s World Championships, with the former etching his name in the men’s 200m fly to the latter’s women’s 200m breast.

As for Kesil, the visiting Ukrainian stopped the clock at 1:56.42 to earn the gold in the sole sub-2:00 time of the field. He cleared the World Aquatics ‘A’ standard of 1:56.51 needed for Singapore.

In the women’s 200m breast, Teterevkova touched in 2:24.55 to beat the field by nearly 11 second en route to dipping under the ‘A’ benchmark of 2:25.91 needed for Singapore.

Additional Winners

  • Mantas Kauspedas, the reigning Lithuanian national record holder, punched a time of 54.46 to get to the wall first in the men’s 100m backstroke.
  • Emilija Pociute established a new Lithuanian record in the women’s 50m back, courtesy of her gold medal-worthy time of 28.63. That erased the time of 28.75 Justine Murdock put on the books last year.
