Winn Aung Adds 50 Free National Age Group Record

After twice breaking the 10 & under National Age Group Record in the 100 meter freestyles (long course) this year already, Winn Aung of the Redding Aquaducks has added a new mark in the 50 free to his tally.

On Sunday at the Matson & Isom B/A+ meet, hosted by Redding, Aung swam a 27.57 to not only win the 9-10 age group by almost 7 seconds, but he also broke the National Age Group Record of 27.71 set by Kris Humphries in 1995.

That officially knocks Humphries out of the National Record books; the now 6’9″ basketballer currently plays basketball professionally in the NBA for the Brooklyn Nets.

Aung’s latest record in the 100 free has not yet been ratified, but will sit at 1:00.67 from a meet a week ago. At this meet he was a 1:01.06 in that 100 freestyle.

In other swims, Aung was a 2:36.6 in the 200 IM, a 2:14.4 in the 200 free, a 35.5 in the 50 back, a 1:19.06 in the 100 back, a 31.1 in the 50 fly, and a 1:10.9 in the 100 fly.

Aung still has another month as a 9-10.

Full meet results are available on the Meet Mobile app under “2013 Redding Swim Team Trophy B/A+ Meet”.
