In a sanctioned time trial meet on Monday, Tennessee Aquatics, based out of Knoxville, Tennessee, has broken the National Age Group Record in the 800 yard free relay.

The relay of Walker HigginsWill ArthurBryar Long, and Hayden Burns combined for a 6:38.14, which broke the 6:41.72 done by the Santa Clara Swim Club (Michael Nunan, Sam Shimomura, Stephen Shilling, and Ian Burns) in 2010.

The splits:

  • Arthur – 1:40.00
  • Burns – 1:38.55
  • Long – 1:41.55
  • Higgins – 1:38.04

That relay includes two swimmers, Higgins and Burns, who went 1-2 in the 200 free at the Tennessee State Championship meet the weekend before, and this time trial, dubbed the “Big Orange Bash,” captured that big taper from the state meet.

Larry is a great coach! Huge loose for AAAA, when he left and a big pick up for Tennessee Aquatics! Best of luck! Many more great things to come for this club!
