The versatile Molly Kowal has verbally committed to The Ohio State University Buckeyes, giving OSU a do-everything piece around which to build their 2016 freshman class.
Kowal heads to Columbus, Ohio from the East Coast, where she competes for the Jersey Wahoos of New Jersey (under head coach John Carroll) and attends Nazareth Academy High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Kowal should mainly be a distance freestyler, but adds very solid bonus events in both IMs and the 200 breaststroke.

“I chose The Ohio State University because I got along really well with both the team and the coaches,” Kowal told SwimSwam. “I know that at Ohio State I will be able to reach my full potential academically and athletically. I am very much looking forward to the next four years at Ohio State!”
Kowal’s mile and 400 IM would have placed her into the C final at last year’s Big Ten Championships. That wouldn’t have scored points last year, but the Big Ten is expanding its scoring format this season and scoring down to 24th, which could make Kowal an instant contributor at the conference level.
She was also just outside of making finals of the 500 free.
Ohio State wound up 6th at last year’s Big Ten Championships, but will look to track down Purdue and Wisconsin with a solid recruiting year.
