EARLIER COVERAGE
The Georgia Bulldogs surged to an NCAA title last night, but it was Mkeaveney who won our Pick ‘Em Contest, scoring 235 points over the four days. That won by just 7 over the field.
The final day had some major trip-ups for the Pick ‘Em entrants, most notably the 200 backstroke. Kentucky’s Danielle Galyer won the first NCAA swimming title in school history, and only 1 of 279 entrants correctly predicted her win.
Georgia’s Olivia Smoliga was also a relatively underrated threat, winning the 100 free after gaining just a small percentage of the winner picks.

Correctly picking a swimmer to place:
- 1st – 7 points
- 2nd – 5 points
- 3rd – 4 points
- 4th – 3 points
Correctly picking a swimmer to place in the top 4, but putting them in the wrong spot, will earn you 1 point.
In the team picks, correctly picking a team to finish in exactly each place will earn this many points:
- 1st – 20
- 2nd – 17
- 3rd – 16
- 4th – 15
- 5th – 14
- 6th – 13
- 7th – 12
- 8th – 11
- 9th – 9
- 10th – 7

Congrats to Georgia on a phenomenal meet. And to Eastin and King. Interesting that neither were in swimswam’s top 5 recruit ranking (probably rightfully so at the time, plus breaststrokers are usually undervalued as recruits.) Bilquist also dropped an insane amount of time this year.
I have one question, does anyone know what was going on with Pelton? I know she had hand surgery last summer and hasn’t had a great year, but I expected more from her at this meet. No A finals for any of her events, and she wasn’t even close to qualifying for the B final of the 200 im, and she got 2nd to Franklin last year.
