2013 Men’s NCAA’s: Day 1 Up/Downs

  8 Morgan Priestley | March 28th, 2013

To keep these from getting cluttered in the written recap, we’re posting the up/downs and score comparisons here from morning 1 at NCAA’s.

The +/- column is how many points that team gained or lost from their seeds.  Note that this DOES NOT include the 50 free swim-off between Tony Cox and Joao De Lucca.

Stanford still came out ok on the first day, despite DQ’ing their 400 medley relay, but that probably eliminates them from national title contention. Cal did almost what they needed to to close the gap on Michigan and make this a dead heat. They’ve got a bit more work to do in finals (getting their 200 free relay higher than their 7th seed) will definitely help that cause.

Florida moved up off of their seeds as well, getting an extra swimmer into the A-Final and an extra into the B-Final, while keeping both of their A-relays in the top-8 as well.

USC, even with all of the electricity from Morozov’s swims, came in just as they were seeded to.

Was there a pick ’em contest for the men’s meet? I kept waiting for it, but never saw a link.
