Casper Swim Club and Kelly Walsh High School swimmer Iliana Jones has committed to the University of Missouri for this next season, while her teammate Tommy Drazick will be swimming at the University of South Dakota.
Jones comes to Mizzou fresh off Wyoming class 4A records and 4A Wyoming state championships in both the 200 free (1:51.30) and the 100 free (50.37). The 100 free swim also scored her a Winter Nationals cut. Her lead-off split in the 200 free relay at that meet was a 23.31, a Winter Junior Nationals cut.
The Mizzou women were on a roll this past year, posting their highest relay finish in team history with fourth in the 400 medley at NCAA Division I Championships and an overall 14th place in the meet.
None of Jones’s swims would have been fast enough to score her a spot on the Mizzou relays at NCAA’s this year, but under head coach Greg Rhodenbaugh, she should show some improvement in the upcoming season.
Drazick will come to the University of South Dakota after competing in Wyoming Class 4A Championships. He scored 6th place in the 100 freestyle with a time of 51.07 (after a prelims time of 50.49) and 8th place in the 100 backstroke with a time of 58.00 (after a prelims time of 57.08).
The USD Coyote men finished fourth this year at Summit League Championships.
