Week 4 has already seen its first upset as #13 Loyola Marymount edged past #11 UC San Diego on Wednesday. Blazo Mitrovic put in seven goals, while David Carrasco added four to push the Lions to victory. UC San Diego got six goals from Connor Turnbow-Lindenstadt and a hat trick from Calder Hilde-Jones in the loss. UCSD led 7-6 at the half, but LMU surged ahead by outscoring the Tritons 6-4 in the third quarter and held on for the win.

Thursday’s slate sees #17 Cal Baptist face Concordia (Irvine). The Lancers (3-7) are coming off their first win over a ranked foe in 2019, besting #18 San Jose State 9-8 on Saturday. The Eagles (2-9) will be trying to break a two-game losing skid after falling to #10 UC Irvine (12-10) and Redlands (12-9) last weekend.

On Friday, the spotlight moves to Los Angeles for the So Cal Invitational co-hosted by #2 UCLA and #13 Loyola Marymount beginning on Friday. The three-day event, 32-match event kicks off with the 16 teams facing off in eight matches on Friday. The field includes the Top 11 teams in the country, plus five more among the CWPA Top 20 and vote getters just outside the rankings.
