Watch as three-time Olympic gold medalist Nathan Adrian speaks with USA Swimming about what #CoachesAre to him.
Adrian is currently ranked fourth in the world in the 50 free and sixth in the 100 free. His season-best 50 free time, 21.56, came from the Arena Pro Swim Series meet in Minneapolis in November. That time is only .19 behind the Brazil’s Bruno Fratus, the current #1 in the world.
Barring a huge upset in at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Omaha this June, Adrian will go into the 100 free at this summer’s Rio Olympic Games as the defending champion. His season-best 100 free comes from this month’s Arena Pro Swim Series meet in Mesa, a 48.00. In this event, Australia’s Cameron McEvoy holds the world’s best time this season, a 47.04 from Australia’s Olympic Trials.
At last year’s 2015 FINA World Aquatics Championships in Kazan, Russia. Adrian set the American record in the semifinals of the 50 free, swimming the event in 21.37. He ended up with the silver medal in the end, though, outswam by France’s Florent Manadou. Manadou finished in 21.19 and Adrian swam the final in 21.52.
