New Britain, CT – The Wagner College swimming and diving team set a pool record in the 200 Free Relay and earned a first place finish at the CCSU Invite.
The Seahawks earned 1842.5 points, with Sacred Heart picking up 1148 points and the Blue Devils earning 1130.5 points.
Freshmen Frederikke Mertins and Hannah Muro, junior Madeleine Delore, and graduate student Dorian McMenemy finished the 200 Free Relay in 1:37.38, which set a new pool record.
Mertins, sophomore Ellie Eastwood, junior Megan Chiu, and McMenemy finished first in the 400 Medley Relay in 3:54.78, while seniors Emily Moore, Jenna D’Allegro, Chiu, and McMenemy earned a win in the 200 Medley Relay in 1:46.23.
The 800 Free Relay, consisting of junior Harmony Eckroth, freshman Kira Bowling, freshman Taylor Marjamaa, and sophomore Mary Tsianaka touched first in 7:47.45, while Mertins, Eastwood, Chiu, and McMenemy finished first in the 400 Medley Relay in 3:54.78. Mertins, Muro, Tsianaka, and McMenemy rounded out the relay victories with a first-place finish in the 400 Free Relay (3:32.20).
Mertins earned victories in the 200 IM (2:07.39), 100 Breast (1:05.58), 200 Breast (2:18.99), and 100 IM (58.92) to continue her strong freshman season.
Moore won the 50 Back (26.98) ahead of junior Hande Kivanc (27.48) while Taylor Marjamaa touched first in the 500 Free (5:06.20) ahead of Bowling (5:08.56) and 1650 Free (17:46.19).
McMenemy finished first in the 50 Free (23.78) and 50 Fly (25.82), while Muro touched first in the 100 Back in 58.15.
Freshman Maile Mora took first place in the 400 IM (4:27.09) ahead of Eastwood (4:31.35) and also finished first in the 100 Back (58.15) and 200 Fly (2:07.76), while Kivanc took first in the 200 Back (2:06.94).
The Seahawks will next be in action at the Fairfield Tri-Meet on January 3, where Wagner will square off against the Stags and Saint Peter’s.
