Lexi Elkovitch of New Albany, Ohio, has verbally committed to swim for Villanova University during the 2020-2021 season.
Of her decision, Elkovitch says,
“Throughout my college search I was looking for a school I would be proud to represent, and I can say without a doubt I will be honored to wear a Villanova cap come 2020. A rich athletic tradition combined with academic excellence is hard to come by, so I feel like I have hit the jackpot with Villanova. I would like to thank my family, friends, and coaches for helping me come to this decision. I cannot wait to be a part of such an amazing family! GO WILDCATS! #NovaNation.”
Elkovitch swam for both New Albany High School’s team and the New Albany Aquatics Club. This past season with the former, she placed second and third in the 50- and 100-yard free respectively at the Central, East, and Southeast District Championship meet. Elkovitch went on to the Ohio High School Athletic Association State Championship meet, placing tenth and sixth in the events. She is a four-time All-American, qualifying with New Albany’s 400 free relay in 2018 and then with again with their 400 and 200 free relays along with the 100 free in 2019. With the NAAC, she competed at the NCSA Spring Junior National Championships this past March and at the Speedo Champions Series in Cleveland in July.
If Elkovitch were on the Wildcats’ 2018-2019 roster, she would have been seventh on the squad in the 50-yard free, fourth in the 100 free and ninth in the 200 free. At the 2019 Big East Conference Championships, she would have A-finaled in the 50 and 100 and B-finaled in the 200.
