Ohio State has added another name to an already-big men’s recruiting class of 2020 with a verbal commitment last week by Pete Krusinski from the Cleveland Swim Institute. Krusinski is primarily a sprint breaststroker and sprint freestyler.
Krusinski has a lot of sprint tools across different strokes, including freestyle, breaststroke, and butterfly. While his best finish at the 2019 Ohio High School State Division I Championships came in the 100 yard breaststroke (7th – 56.41), he has show just as much potential in other sprints, including a 44.81 anchor on a 400 free relay.
Krusinski does his high school swimming for Broadview Heights High School in Brecksville, Ohio.

- 100 free – 46.08
- 200 free – 1:42.99
- 100 breast – 55.62
- 200 breast – 2:05.04
- 100 fly – 49.65
- 200 IM – 1:56.65
While he showed some improvements in his 200 breaststroke as a junior (a 2.4 second drop), his times indicate that a good path for him might be to take a page from the playbook of the school’s arch rivals Michigan and develop him into a role like the Ortiz brothers where he can utilize his pure speed across all 4 strokes rather than trying to stretch his endurance to 200 yard races. That being said, he is the only breaststroker in the class of 2020 for Ohio State.
