CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Vermont Catamounts were the lone America East school to compete this past week. Vermont traveled to Key Largo, Florida for the Orange Bowl Swim Classic. Below is the week 8 #AESD award winner:
Swimmer Performer of the Week
Andie Blaser, Vermont, Junior, Doylestown, Pennsylvania
- Junior Andie Blaser registered Vermont’s top individual finish at the Orange Bowl Classic with a second place finish in the 100 meter butterfly (1:05.67).
- Blaser was also part of the Catamount’s top relay team in the 200 meter medley relay. The quartet, which included Courtney Gray, Shannon Cowley, and Christa Weaver, finished third with a time of 1:59.20.
- Vermont placed third overall at the Orange Bowl Classic, behind #6 Michigan and West Virginia. The Catamounts bested George Mason, Saint Leo and Northern Michigan University.
Swimming & Diving Notes
- Vermont was the only America East team in action over the past week, taking part in the Orange Bowl Classic down in Key Largo, Florida.
- The Catamounts placed third out of six schools, finishing behind the nationally ranked Michigan Wolverines and West Virginia.
- Junior Andie Blaser was the top performer for Vermont, placing second in the 100 meter butterfly. She was additionally part of the 200 medley relay team that took third.
- Here are the dates when the remaining America East competitors will return to action: UMBC hosts Howard on the January 10th, Binghamton returns to action January 16th against Colgate, and Maine will go up against Bowdoin on the 17th, while on the same day UNH travels to Yale.
