Open water swimming legend Steven Munatones continues to make more progress on Monday after suffering a heart attack late last week.
According to updates by his sister Stacey, Munatones is able to speak his full name and follow commands from medical personnel. She says that he is “ahead of schedule” in his recovery, as they continue to test if any neurological damage was done as a result of the heart attack.
Munatones is a member of the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame, a former U.S. National Open Water Team coach, and a former 25km open water World Champion.
