BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The University of California-Los Angeles jumps up two places this week to take over at No. 1 as the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2022 Week 4/February 16 Women’s Varsity National Top 25, Division III Top 10, CWPA Top Five and CWPA Division III Top Five Polls.
Pomona-Pitzer Colleges, the University of Michigan and Austin College continue as the top-ranked teams in the Division III Top 10, CWPA Top Five and CWPA Division III Top Five Polls four weeks into the 2022 campaign.
Voted on by a panel of coaches from the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA), the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), the Golden Coast Conference, the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC), the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the Big West Conference, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and the CWPA based on the cumulative results of the season, the polls are compiled and released on Wednesday during the season.
2022 WOMEN’S VARSITY NATIONAL TOP 25 (WEEK 4)
Following an 11-10 defeat of previously top-ranked the University of Southern California over the weekend at the University of California-San Diego Triton Invitational, the University of California-Los Angeles ascends to No. 1 in the Week 4/February 16 National Top 25 Poll.
The Bruins (98 points) move up two places as UCLA was ranked behind both USC and the University of California last week. This week, ursine programs hold the top two spots as the Golden Bears of Cal (97 points) retain their prior runner-up position to trail the Bruins by a single point.
USC (93 points) slides to No. 3 with Stanford University (89 points) sticking at No. 4 for another seven-day run.
Changes continue in the Top Five as the University of Hawaii (84 points) supplants the University of Michigan (80 points at No. 5 as the Rainbow Wahine claimed a 14-13 victory in overtime against the Wolverines over the weekend at the Triton Invite.
Michigan slips back to No. 6 with the University of California-Irvine (76 points), Fresno State University (72 points), Arizona State University (68 points), the University of California-Davis (64 points) and San Jose State University (60 points) retaining their prior positions at No. 7-to-11, respectively.
The University of California-San Diego (55 points), Long Beach State University (50 points, Wagner College (48 points), University of the Pacific (42 points) and the University of California-Santa Barbara (38 points) continue at No. 12-to-16.
Indiana University (34 points), Loyola Marymount University (29 point), Harvard University (27 points) and Princeton University (26 points) advance to No. 17-to-20 with San Diego State University (20 points) and Long Island University (19 points) moving back to No. 21 and 22.
Marist College (10 points) remains at No. 23 with California State University-Northridge (8 points) breaking into the Top 25 at No. 14.
A total of 26 teams make the Top 25 this week as Bucknell University (4 points) and Brown University (4 points) are tied for the final berth at No. 25.

2022 WOMEN’S VARSITY DIVISION III TOP 10 (WEEK 4)
Pomona-Pitzer Colleges continues at No. 1 in the 2022 Women’s Varsity Division III Week 4/February 16 Top 10 Poll.
Pomona-Pitzer (100 points) remains a unanimous No. 1 pick with California Lutheran University (95 points), Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (87 points) and Whittier College (81 points) remaining at No. 2-to-4.
Chapman University (80 points) achieves sole possession of the No. 5 spot after tying with Austin College last week. The University of La Verne (73 points) breaks a tie at No. 7 with the University of Redlands to assume the No. 6 position with Austin (72 points) and Redlands (72 points) tying at No. 7 this week.
Occidental College (58 points) and Macalester College (46 points) once again complete the Top 10.

Five-time defending Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Champion the University of Michigan continues at No. 1 in the 2022 CWPA Division I Week 4/February 16 Top Five Poll.
The 2005, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2021 league champion, Michigan (100 points) remains the undisputed/unanimous No. 1 selection.
Princeton University (93 points), which was tied with Harvard University at No. 2 last week, edges out the Crimson (92 points) to assume sole control of the runner-up spot.
Bucknell University (84 points) and Brown University (65 points) complete the Top Five.

2021 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III champion Austin College remains the top-ranked program in the 2022 CWPA Division III Week 4/February 16 Top Five Poll.
The Kangaroos (100 points) continue as a unanimous No. 1 pick following a 2021 season in which Austin downed Wittenberg University to claim the program’s inaugural league championship.
Macalester College (93 points) moves up to No. 2 with Wittenberg (87 points) dropping back to No. 3. Augustana College (72 points) and Grove City College (66 points) complete the Top Five.
