Davis, Calif. – Amanda Wilson, Cora McClelland, Julie Kwan and Taylor Hornberger took event wins on Friday morning as UC Davis wrapped up the second of two meets against Cal State East Bay, Pepperdine, and UC San Diego.
After defeating UC San Diego on Friday, the Tritons came back to win 178-140 on Saturday. The Aggies posted dominant wins over Pepperdine and Cal State East Bay for the second straight day with scores of 253.5-64.5 and 262-50 respectively.
Wilson was the first event winner on the day for the Aggies as she led a charge that saw UC Davis pick up valuable points in the 200 Fly by sweeping spots 1-3. Wilson won in a near-identical time to her 200 Fly win on Friday in 2:05.67.
After finishing second on Friday, Julie Kwan came back to win the 200 Back in 2:05.46. Cora McClelland also posted her first win of the year, taking the 200 Fly by over half a second in 56.69.
For the second straight day Aggie divers picked up valuable points for UC Davis, taking spots 1-4 on the 1-meter board and 1-5 on the 3-meter board.
Taylor Hornberger won on the 1-meter board with a 288.70 but it was freshman Sydney Wren who took first on the 3-meter board on Saturday. Wren’s best dive of 297.55 was a collegiate best and the best 3-meter mark by an Aggie this season.
UC Davis will face their first significant travel of the season next weekend when a select squad will travel to Utah to swim against BYU and Liberty University.

DAVIS, Calif. – The Pepperdine women’s swim and dive team the second day of racing against Cal State East Bay and UC Davis. The Waves split the second day, losing to UC Davis but pulling out another win against Cal State East Bay 184.5-121.5.
MEET RECAP
In the first event of the day, the women’s 200 medley relay, the team of Caroline Eckel, Emily Morton, Sarah Hamilton, and Amy Griffin took home a fourth place finish in a time of 1:48.71. Olivia Kayye was the leader for the Waves in the 1,000 freestyle on day two, placing sixth with a time of 10:56.91. In the 200 freestyle, Sammie Slater had the best showing, also getting sixth overall with a time of 1:56.84.
Caroline Eckel had an impressive performance in the 100 backstroke, tying for fourth overall in a time of 59.21. After her outstanding 200 backstroke yesterday, Emily Morton swam the event again placing fourth today in a time of 2:08.64. The top 500 freestyler was Mackenzie Hamlett who took fifth, going 5:12.68. The top overall placing of the day was posted by Morton in the 400 IM, where she finished third, touching in a time of 4:33.08.
The final swimming event on the day was the 400 freestyle relay, where Julianna Birlin, Amy Griffin, Nohea Lileikis and Sammie Slater teamed up for a fourth place finish in a time of 3:36.65.
In the diving portion, Paulina Holmberg was the Waves top performer on both boards, receiving a score of 217.6 on 1-meter and 195.50 on 3-meter.

Head Coach Joe Spahn said: “As a team we swam very well today. It was a tough turn around with a 4:00 pm meet yesterday and then a 9:00 am meet today but it’s good practice for conference. Next Friday should be a lot of fun hosting our PCH Cup rival, LMU, under the lights. It’s our last opportunity to clean some things up before we head into our mid-season meet.”

DAVIS, Calif., — The Cal State East Bay swim team was back at Schaal Aquatic Center Saturday morning as they wrapped up their Quad Meet weekend against Division I opponent US Davis, UC San Diego and conference foe Pepperdine.
The Pioneers once again found themselves on the losing end of the quad meet against some really talented competition. Similar to yesterday, despite not winning a race in the meet, CSUEB collectively turned in some impressive times.
The Tritons and the Aggies got things started as with first and fifth place finishes for UC San Diego and second and third place for UC Davis in the 200 Medley Relay. The quartet of Allie Klinger, Tori Padilla, Victoria Zukeran and Isabel Rishwain notched sixth place with a time of 1:49.80.
Davis and San Diego also excelled in the next event, the 1000 Free, notching the top four finishers. Maddie Wittkowske was not very far behind in fifth place clocking a time of 10:55.71. Leah Robinson finished eighth in the race with a time of 11:11.98
In the 200 Free, East Bay swimmers recorded three of the top 10 spots led by Serene Augustain who placed seventh in a time of 1:57.49. Morgan Frank tied of an eighth place finish at 1:58.98 and Isabel Rishwain followed close behind for a 10th place finish touching the wall at 1:58.99.
Alondra Ortiz recorded a top 10 finish in the 100 Back, posting a time of 1:01.68. Landry Walker and Katrionna Furness finished back-to-back in 13th and 14th places, respectively.
In the 100 Breast, Pioneers Tori Padilla and Rebecca Bay earned points with ninth and 10th place finishes. Padilla touched the wall at 1:10.28 and Bay was right behind her clocking a 1:10.77.
Victoria Zukeran notched a top five finish in the 200 Butterfly with a time of 2:09.74. Sofia Moufarrej tallied eighth place in the race touching the wall in 2:12.71 and Kelee Shimizu was 10th in a time of 2:18.32.
In the next race, Allie Klinger registered points for CSUEB with a seventh place finish in the 50 Free in a time of 24.82. Klinger followed up that race with another top 10 finish in the 100 Free, clocking in at 54.96.
East Bay notched back-to-back top ten finishes in the next two events. Alondra Ortiz captured her second top ten finish I in the 200 Back where she touched the wall in the eighth place with a time of 2:12.26. Paige Branson logged a 11th place finish in 2:15.17. Rebecca Bay also tallied an eighth place finish in the 200 Breast clocking a time of 2:31.31.
A trio of Pioneers collected points for the squad in the 500 Free. Morgan Frank scored points with an eighth place finish at 5:17.62. Juniors Maddie Whittkowske and Landry Walker secured ninth and tenth places with times of 5:18.64 and 5:20.85.
In the 200 IM, Victoria Zukeran secured another top 5 finish touching the wall in 2:12.08. Morgan Frank logged a 10th place spot with a time of 2:17.59.
Landry Walker and Serene Augustain and notched back-to-back finishes in the 400 IM posting eight and ninth place finishes. Walker completed the race in 4:45.17 and Augustain clocked a time of 4:47.13.
In the Pioneer final event of the season, the 400 Freestyle Relay, the foursome of Allie Klinger, Maddie Wittkowske, Isabel Rishwain and Serene Augustain recorded a fifth place finish in a time of 3:39.00.
East Bay will have a couple week off before returning to the pool for the annual Collegiate Winter Invitational at hosted by East Los Angeles College.

DAVIS, Calif. – The Tritons dazzled in the second and final day of their quad meet. Head to head, the women defeated Cal State East Bay 247-59 and UC Davis 178-140. The Tritons defeated Davis for the first time since the Aggies became a Division I team. The meet was a good indication to the strides the women have made to transition into Division I athletics as UC Davis is a perennial top team in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation.
The Tritons had the top finisher in 12 of the 17 events on the day and were able to sweep the top three spots in the 100-yard breaststroke and 500-yard freestyle. UC San Diego had at least two athletes finish in the top three in 10 events, demonstrating the depth the team has developed this season.
The women opened the second day with another relay win in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of Jordan Phillips, Katja Pavicevic, Lindsay Clark and Cody Hargadon won with a time of 1:45.16.
Katja Pavicevic had another outstanding performance and won the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke and 400-yard IM. Both her 400-IM time (4:26.12) and 200-breaststroke time (2:17.50) were over four seconds faster than second place.
A duo of Tritons were double winners on the day in individual events. Hargadon came up on top in the sprinting events and won the 50-yard and 100-yard with times of 24.09 and 52.24. Tina Reuter won the 200-yard freestyle and 200-yard IM with times of 2:06.09.
The Tritons closed out the meet with a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Grace Murphy, Brittney Miles, Hargadon and Reuter had a time of 3:28.61, over three seconds faster than second place.
The women have a busy week coming up as they travel to UC Santa Barbara on November 9 and host Berkeley on November 11.
