The Toledo swimming & diving program will hit the road for the remainder of the season, beginning Friday when it heads to Indianapolis to take on the Jaguars of IUPUI.
“The team is excited about our upcoming meet at IUPUI this Friday,” said head coach Jonas Persson. “IUPUI is a great team and matches well with ours. IUPUI has one of the best aquatic centers in the country and has hosted multiple national and international events. It will be great for our team to race and dive in a world-class pool. We are looking forward to it.”
“We’ve been training hard every day and hope to make improvements from the last meet,” said graduate assistant diving coach Gabriella Agostino, “I am excited to see Megan and Elayna compete.”
The Rockets will look for continued improvement this weekend, following a very strong showing on senior night last Saturday. Senior Allison Dicke led the way for the Rockets, garnering her first individual event victory as a Rocket in the 100 yard freestyle. The underclassmen once again made important contributions for Toledo, including Duda Sales winning the 50 yard butterfly.
“Our training last week was amazing and I think we got some really nice momentum going from our previous two meets,” said Persson. “It gives us another chance to fine tune our racing strategies.”
The meet is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. on Friday at the IU Natatorium.
