The U.S. Olympic Team Trials- Diving Kicks off in Indianapolis On June 6

Indianapolis, Ind.- 100 of the top divers throughout the U.S. will travel to Indianapolis, Indiana to compete in the U.S. Olympic Team Trials- Diving starting June 6, 2021, at the IUPUI Natatorium. Among the divers competing are four-time Olympic Medalist David Boudia, 2016 medalists Steele Johnson and Michael Hixon, 2016 Olympians Kassidy Cook, Katrina Young, Jessica Parratto and Amy Cozad Magana, as well as 2000 Olympic Gold Medalist Laura Wilkinson who has recently come out of retirement.

The competition will commence at 11 a.m. EST on Sunday with the Women’s Synchronized 3 meter preliminary round followed by the event’s semifinals starting at 7pm. Favorites going into the event is the dynamic duo of Kassidy Cook and Sarah Bacon who recently earned the country’s Olympic berth with their fourth-place finish at the 2021 FINA World Cup in Tokyo, Japan. Other contenders include Alison Gibson and Krysta Palmer who placed second to Cook and Bacon in the 2019 USA Diving Winter Nationals. Finals will be held in the event on Thursday June 10 at 7pm EST.

Diving will continue on Monday with the Men’s Synchronized 3 meter and Women’s Synchronized Platform qualifying rounds which will be run as a combined event starting at 11am. The semifinals for both events will commence at 7pm. In the Men’s 3 meter Synchronized, we will see 2016 Olympic Silver Medalist in the event, Michael Hixon paired with 2021 NCAA Champion Andrew Capobianco go head-to-head with David Boudia and Steele Johnson who earned the Silver Medal on tower together at the 2016 Olympic Games. In the Women’s tower, Katrina Young and Murphy Bromberg, who were the event’s 2019 World Championship Bronze Medalists, will face off against Deleaney Schnell, who earned Bronze in the individual 10 meter at the 2019 World Championships, paired with 2016 Olympian Jessica Parratto. Finals will be held for the events Friday June 11 at 7pm EST.

Tuesday will see the first individual events contested, beginning with the Women’s 3 meter Springboard preliminary round at 10am EST followed by the Men’s 10 meter preliminary round at 12:46pm EST. Among the favorites in the Women’s 3m are 2021 World Cup Silver Medalist, Sarah Bacon, 2016 Olympian Kassidy Cook, 2021 World Cup Finalist Samantha Pickens, as well as Alison Gibson, Brooke Schultz and Krysta Palmer. In the Men’s 10m, David Dinsmore will look to make his first Olympic squad after a narrow miss in 2016. Other contenders in the event are 2021 NCAA Champion Brandon Loschiavo and Jordan Windle. Semifinals for both events will take place beginning at 7 pm Tuesday evening.

The last day of prelims will be Wednesday June 9, beginning with the Men’s 3 meter Springboard at 10am, followed by the Women’s 10m Platform at 2:00 pm. The Men’s 3 meter Springboard is shaping up to be one of the most heavily contested events of the competition with David Boudia, Michael Hixon, Andrew Capobianco, Steele Johnson, Jordan Windle and Briadam Hererra among the favorites to secure the two Olympic spots. In the Women’s Tower, we will see Delaney Schnell, who the first female to earn a World Championship medal in 14 years back in 2019, compete against 2016 Olympians Jessica Parratto, Amy Cozad Magana and Katrina Young, as well as Murphy Bromberg and 2000 Olympic Gold Medalist Laura Wilkinson, who recently came out of retirement to make a run at a fourth Olympic Games.

On Thursday evening, the Women’s 3 meter Synchronized final will begin at 7pm EST and will be aired on the Olympic Channel. Friday’s Men’s 3 meter Synchronized and Women’s Platform Finals will also be aired on the Olympic Channel starting at 7 pm EST.

Saturday’s finals will all be aired on NBC with the Women’s 3m at 4:50pm followed by the Men’s 10 Meter Platform final which will stream on NBCOlympics.com starting at 7:30 pm, switching to NBC primetime at 8:00 pm EST.
