The Texas A&M Men are making two stops in Florida this week. They raced today in Fort Pierce, taking on NJCAA Powerhouse Indian River State College. The #20 Aggies handled the Pioneers 150-84, taking the top finish in each event. Seven of the eleven individual events were 1-3 sweeps.
Mauro Castillo and Jacob Gonzales were each double event winners for the Aggies. Castillo took the 100 fly in 50.15 and the 100 breast in 56.00. Gonzales won the sprint freestyles, turning in 20.96 for the 50 and 45.84 for the 100.
Notable swims for Indian River included two second place finishes from John Feteaux, with both of them less than half a second behind the top finisher. His 100 breast time was 56.49 and his 100 free was just .09 out of first with 45.93.
Another IRCC notable swim was Gavin Erdmann‘s 200 freestyle. His 1:41.76, while held to the third place spot, was within just .15 of the winner. A&M’s Hunter Funk and Turker Ayar held him back with 1:41.61 and 1:41.64 respectively.
The Aggies’ next stop will be in Boca Raton to face Florida Atlantic University on Saturday.
