Tennessee Lands Verbal Commitment from Fly/IMer Stephen Lucht

Raleigh, North Carolina’s Stephen Lucht verbally committed to swim for the University of Tennessee beginning with the 2017-18 season.

“I picked Tennessee because The Atmosphere was amazing, and the teammates and coaches were the greatest group of people I have ever been around.”

Lucht swims for the Marlins of Raleigh and Sanderson High School. He won the consolation of the 200 IM and anchored Sanderson’s 400 free relay at the 2016 NCHSAA 4A State Championships. He had a strong spring and summer, earning personal bests in most of his top events. After competing in the 100/200y fly and 200/400y IM at 2015 Winter Juniors East, Lucht shone at the Southern Premier Championships in March, and then again at Atlanta Futures in August.

His best times are:

  SCY LCM
100 fly 50.95 57.94
200 fly 1:49.04 2:04.58
200 IM 1:52.55 2:09.48
400 IM 3:57.30 4:36.25

Lucht will be joined by fellow-commit Joshua Walsh in the Vols’ class of 2021.

What a pick up for Tennessee! This gentleman is one of the most passionate swimmers I have coached! I cannot wait to see what the Vols can do with him!
