The concept of Fantasy Swimming was initiated into the mainstream swim community during U.S. Nationals last Summer and has since seen success to the tune of acquiring international members and needing to split into two separate leagues.

Fantasy Swimming’s approach operates like most other fantasy sports with “owners” drafting swimmers to build up rosters for each meet involved in that particular season; the current season being the Arena Pro Swim Series with owners drafting per meet stop and also selecting the overall swimmers they believe will end up at the top of the Pro Series money list.  Competition between owners gets increasingly fierce as the season grows, with Twitter being the primary host for all of the smack talk.

The bar has also been raised in terms of the prizes awarded to the winners of each meet, as well as to the champions of the overall season.  Last Summer, Ryan Lochte and Coach David Marsh collaborated to bring an extraordinary prize back from Australia – Lochte’s 4 x 100m freestyle relay silver medal and a signed cap from the Olympic medalist as well.

This year, the SwimMAC Elite coach has stepped it up again, bringing home an exclusive one-of-a-kind signed BHP Billiton cap direct from the Aquatic Super Series in Perth.  The cap dons a selection of elite signatures with the likes of Lochte, Tim Phillips, Tyler Clary, Camille Adams and more.  Quite the treasure to add to one’s sport memorabilia collection.
