BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Stanford University and Pomona-Pitzer Colleges remain at No. 1 in the Division I and III ranks after 11 weeks of varsity competition as the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2023 Week 11/March 29 Women’s Varsity National Top 25, Division III Top 10, CWPA Top Five and CWPA Division III Top Five Polls.
Stanford – which claimed the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) title – and Pomona-Pitzer – which garnered the USA Water Polo Division III Collegiate Championship – in 2022 remain favorites to repeat as champions during the 2023 campaign.
Princeton University and defending CWPA Division III Champion Austin College stay at No. 1 in the CWPA Division I Top Five and CWPA Division III Top Five Polls, respectively.
Voted on by a panel of coaches from the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA), the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), the Golden Coast Conference, the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC), the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the Big West Conference, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and the CWPA based on the cumulative results of the season, the polls are compiled and released on Wednesday during the season.
2023 WOMEN’S VARSITY NATIONAL TOP 25 (WEEK 11/MARCH 29)
Another week, another No. 1 ranking for the Cardinal of Stanford University which continue to reign in the 2023 Women’s Varsity National Top 25 Week 11/March 29 Poll.
The Cardinal (100 points) rate as a unanimous top selection to lead a poll that experiences shifts outside the Top 10.
The University of Southern California (96 points) stays at No. 2, but an 8-7 loss by the University of California to Long Beach State University over the weekend causes a ripple which shifts positions No. 3-to-9.
The University of California-Los Angeles (91 points) and the University of Hawaii (88 points) both move up one place to take over at No. 3 and 4, while California (82 points) slips to No. 5.
The University of California-Irvine (76 points) retains its prior No. 6 ranking with Princeton University (74 points) tying with Long Beach State (74 points) at No. 7. Fresno State University (68 points) – which was tied with Princeton at No. 7 last week – slips to No. 9 with the University of California-Santa Barbara (63 points) holding on at No. 10 for another seven-day run.
Consistency returns at No. 11-to-21 as the University of California-Davis (60 points), University of the Pacific (57 points), the University of Michigan (54 points), Harvard University (49 points), Arizona State University (44 points), Loyola Marymount University (39 points), Wagner College (36 points), the University of California-San Diego (32 points), Indiana University (29 points), San Jose State University (24 points) and Brown University (21 points) remain stationary.
Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (13 points), California State University-Northridge (11 points), Long Island University (10 points) and San Diego State University (6 points) exchange the final four positions to complete the March 29 voting.

Pomona-Pitzer Colleges continues at No. 1 in the Women’s Varsity Division III Top 10 Week 11/March 29 Poll for the 2023 season.
Pomona-Pitzer (100 points) and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (95 points) hold at No. 1 and 2 with the University of La Verne (89 points) breaking a tie with California Lutheran University (84 points) at No. 3 to acquire sole possession of the spot this week.
Cal Lutheran drops back to No. 4, while Austin College (78 points) and the University of Redlands (73 points) exchange the No. 5 and 6 spots.
Augustana College (68 points), Whittier College (67 points), Chapman University (65 points) and the California Institute of Technology (34 points) complete the Top 10.

The 2020 and 2021 CWPA Division III Champion, Austin (100 points) maintains a five point lead over Augustana College (95 points). Washington & Jefferson College (88 points) and Macalester College (85 points) trade the No. 3 and No. 4 spots, while Connecticut College (50 points) continues at No. 5
