SMU men’s swimming & diving is set to compete in nine team meets during its 2024-25 regular season, the program announced on Wednesday.

The schedule consists of the SMU Classic and Invite, three dual matchups and two double-dual meets along with the Georgia Diving Invite and the Last Chance Meet.

During the campaign, the Mustangs compete against five ACC foes in their inaugural season as a member of the conference. The schedule also consists of eight programs that finished in the top 25 at last season’s NCAA Championships.

SMU is coming off one of the most successful seasons in program history, claiming the ASUN conference championship and placing 18th during the NCAA Championships, the highest finish since 2008.

The 2024-25 regular season begins with the SMU Classic on October 11 and 12 when the Mustangs welcome power-conference opponents Auburn, Louisville, Texas A&M, USC and Virginia Tech to Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center. All five programs placed in the top 25 at the NCAA Championships last year.

The home slate continues with a double-dual meet against Oklahoma Christian and Incarnate Word on October 19. SMU then heads to Fort Worth on October 25 take on rival TCU.

On November 20-23, the Mustangs host the SMU Invite in Dallas. This season the invite features Hawaii, Drury, UC San Diego and ACC-foe Stanford. The Cardinal have placed in the top-10 nationally each of the last three seasons.

To conclude the 2024 calendar year, select SMU athletes travel to Greensboro, North Carolina, for the US Open on December 4-7. The meet takes place at Greensboro Aquatic Center, which also serves as the host for the 2025 ACC Championships.

In the lone diving-only meet of the regular season, Mustang divers will compete in Athens, Georgia, at the Georgia Diving Invite on January 3-5.

The full team is back in action in 2025 with a road meet against Texas on January 11. Last season, the Longhorns placed seventh at the NCAA Championships. The dual slate continues six days later with a home matchup against Florida State.

SMU’s regular season concludes on January 25 with a double-dual meet against Utah and Pittsburgh in Dallas. Fellow ACC member Pittsburgh is coming off a 25th-place finish at last season’s NCAA Championships.

Postseason action begins with the ACC Championships on February 18-22 in Greensboro, North Carolina. This marks the Mustangs first appearance at the conference meet. During the 2023-24 season, seven ACC programs placed in the top 25 at the NCAA Championships, with Stanford and Cal also placing in the top 10.

Prior to the NCAA Championships, SMU hosts a Last Chance Meet representing a final opportunity for athletes to reach NCAA cut marks.

Qualified SMU divers will get an opportunity to officially punch their ticket to the NCAA Championships during the NCAA Zone Diving Championships on March 9-11 in Iowa City, Iowa.

The 2025 NCAA Championships take place in Federal Way, Washington, on March 26-29. Last year SMU placed 18th, its highest finish since 2008 at the meet. The Mustangs return 12-time All-American Jack Hoagland, who scored 41 points at the event last season.

On April 25 and 26, the Mustangs host the SMU Long Course Time Trial Invite. This meet serves as an opportunity for athletes to achieve marks to qualify them for international events on behalf of their respective countries.
