Savard Collects Three Wins at the Quebec Cup

Katerine Savard was one of several Canadian national team to compete at the Quebec Cup this weekend in Montreal.

Savard won the women’s 50 and 100 butterfly as well as the 400 freestyle. Savard took the 50 butterfly in a time of 26.50, the 100 butterfly in a time of 58.12 and the 400 freestyle in a time of 4:16.73.

Savard was not far off her season’s best of 26.31 in the 50 butterfly and 57.76 in the 100 butterfly.

The 22 year old will look to build on her successful performance at the Commonwealth Games where she won gold in the women’s 100 butterfly. In 2013 Savard finished fifth in the 100 butterfly at the World Championships in Barcelona.

Audrey Lacroix, who won Commonwealth gold in the women’s 200 butterfly, took the event in a time of 2:09.20, which is well off her season’s best of 2:07.63.

Sandrine Mainville prevented Savard from collecting a fourth gold by winning the women’s 100 freestyle in a time of 54.82. Savard finished second in a time of 55.14.

Barbara Jardin, who will be representing Canada at the World University Games, won the women’s 200 backstroke in a time of 2:13.95.

Jardin stopped 17 year old Danielle Hanus from sweeping the backstroke events. Hanus won the 50 in a time of 28.88 and the 100 in a time of 1:02.60.

Tabathia Baumann, who will be representing Canada at the Pan American Games took the women’s 1500 freestyle in a time of 16:44.10.
