Alexandra Fabugais-Inaba of Ontario’s Oakville Aquatic Club has given her verbal commitment to Rutgers University in New Jersey. She finished 16th in the 100 free and 11th in both the 200 and 400 free at this past summer’s Canadian Swimming Championships.

Fabugais-Inaba’s Top Times (LCM/SCY Converted)
- 100m free – 58.16/50.95
- 200m free – 2:03.65/1:48.51
- 400m free – 4:21.56/4:53.06
This is a potential game-changing commitment for Rutgers; there’s always the question of whether a foreign athlete can transfer their meters times to the SCY configuration in the NCAA, but with her converted times, Fabugais-Inaba is just over a second shy of the Scarlet Knights’ 200 free program record.
Rutgers has had an exciting last couple seasons, as they’ve moved to the competitive Big Ten conference and have set school records in seven individual events and both medley relays between the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons.
With Fabugais-Inaba’s converted times, she would’ve made the 200 free C final and just missed both the 500 free and 100 free C finals at last season’s Big Ten Champs. Notably, Rutgers had zero finalists in any of these three events last year.
Joining Fabugais-Inaba in Rutgers’ incoming freshman class is Lebanese national record holder Nadia Nabhan.
