POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist women’s swimming & diving team defeated Rider, 163-125, in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match-up on Saturday at McCann Natatorium.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Emma Butzler won three events: the 200 free (1:54.78), 100 free (54.45), and 500 free (5:13.90).
- Grace Reeves won both the 1-meter (241.13) and 3-meter (252.08) diving events.
- Madeline Healey won the 1000 free (10:43.33).
- Nellie Thompson captured the 50 free (25.25).
- Healey and Thompson were also part of the Red Foxes’ winning 400 free relay, which finished in a time of 3:40.56 and also featured Margaret Hartman and Sidney Judson.
RECORDS
- Marist is 2-1 on the season and 2-0 against MAAC opponents.
- Rider is 0-3 overall and 0-1 against conference competition.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – The Rider University men’s swimming and diving team improved to 3-0 on the season after defeating Marist 169-125 to begin MAAC Competition. The Red Foxes fell for the first time this season, falling to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in MAAC meets.
The Bronc men won nine events in the meet.
Lucas Racevicius (Watertown, CT/Holy Cross), David Cooper (Spring, TX/Klein Oak), Jack Ruggieri (Bellmawr, NJ/Gloucester Catholic), and Bobby Irwin (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) combined to take the 200-medley relay in 1:33.37, to give the Broncs an early lead.
Racevicius then won the 200-free, with a winning time of 1:42.60.
David Rucci (Sewell, NJ/Gateway Regional) led a Bronc sweep of the 100-back, touching the wall at 52.12, ahead of Nicky Lane’s (Hackettstown, NJ/Lane Academy) 52.74 and Derek Fantano’s (Morris, CT/Holy Cross) 53.39.
David Cooper (Spring, TX/Klein Oak) and Alex Boeckx (Folsom, PA/Ridley) went one-two in the 100-breast with times of 56.85 and 58.20. Cooper then won the 200-breast in 2:05.96.
Christian Overton, Rucci, and Fantano swept the 200-back with times of 1:53.19, 1:53.61, and 1:56.06.
Nicky Lane (Hackettstown, NJ/Lane Academy) swam 51.87 to win the 100-fly.
The Broncs ended the individual competition with a sweep of the 200-IM. Racevicius, Rucci, and Cooper swam 1:55.44, 1:56.94, and 1:57.63.
In the diving competition, Sean Binning (Annandale, VA/W.T. Woodson) won the 3-meter with a score of 243.68 and then went one-two with Marcas Racevicius (Watertown, CT/Holy Cross) in the 1-meter with scores of 242.93 and 219.53.

– Kyle Iorizzo (Norwood, NJ/Old Tappan Regional) took second in the 1,000-free and third in the 500-free.
– Bobby Irwin (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) placed third in the 200-fly.
– Webster Bozzo (Christansted, U.S. Virgin Islands/Good Hope Country Day) was third in the 50-free.
– Marcas Racevicius was third in the 3-meter.
– Lucas Racevicius placed second in the 100-free.
– Andrew Iannacone (Yardley, PA/Holy Ghost Prep) was third in the 200-breast.
– Lane and Mike Treglia (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) swam two-three in the 100-fly.
