OXFORD, Ohio – Miami University’s women’s swimming & diving team will be representing in two different meets this weekend, as junior Stephanie LeMire will go to Minneapolis, Minn., to race in the 2015 Arena Pro Swim Series, which runs from Thursday, Oct. 12 to Saturday, Oct. 14. The rest of the RedHawks will compete in a dual meet in Columbus, to take on Ohio State Friday, Oct. 13 at 6:30.
LeMire will be competing in the 100-yard breaststroke on Thursday, 200-yard breaststroke on Friday and 200-yard IMon Saturday. Prelims each day begin at 10 a.m. ET and finals will be at 7 p.m. ET. You can follow along on live stats at http://www.gophersports.com/livestats/c-swim/
Last weekend, Miami swept Mid-American Conference competition, defeating Ball State 188-109 and Buffalo 170.5-129.5.
The highlight of the Ball State meet was freshman Grace Van Fossen earning her first two collegiate wins in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:40.27) and 100-yard butterfly (57.94).
The diving squad was the story against Buffalo. The junior class trio of Pei Lin, Taylor LeCount and Jenna Karrow swept both diving events. In the three-meter dive, LeCount took first place (269.48), Karrow took second (258.08) and Lin placed third (257.17). In the one-meter event, Lin won the event (297.07), followed by LeCount (257.24) and Karrow (246.30).
The Buckeyes are 4-1 in dual meets on the season coming into their meet against the RedHawks, defeating Ohio (211-85), Kenyon (207-88), Notre Dame (176-113) and Denison (210.5-85.5). Their only loss came to Purdue by a score of 167-133. Ohio State also won the FGCU Eagle Swimming Classic, beating Florida Gulf Coast, South Carolina, Rutgers, Buffalo and Grand Canyon.
