Quigley, Roebuck and Johnstone Confirm Attendance At British Nationals

Lauren Quigley, Joe Roebuck and Kathryn Johnstone have all confirmed their participation in the 2014 British Gas Swimming Championships in Glasgow which run from April 10th to the 15th. The competition will also serve as the selection meet for the Commonwealth Games.

Quigley, 18, will be looking to qualify for her first Commonwealth Games. Last summer, after winning the British National Championships in the 100 backstroke, along with collecting silver in both the 50 and 200 backstroke, she qualified for the World Championships in Barcelona where she finished eighth in the 50 backstroke.

Quigley will be competing in the 50, 100 and 200 meter backstroke as well as the 50, 100 and 200 meter freestyle at this year’s national championships.

In 2010 Joe Roebuck won two silver medals at the Commonwealth Games finishing second in both the 200 and 400 IM. In 2014 he hopes to once again represent England at the games and will be eligible in the 100 and 200 butterfly as well as the 200 IM, which he will be swimming at the national championships.

Kathryn Johnstone aslo competed at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, finishing seventh in the 50 breaststroke. Johnstone hopes to once again represent Scotland at the games and will take her shot in the 50, 100 and 200 breaststroke.
