South Dakota’s Holt/Padgett Sweep Summit League Swimmers Of The Week

Iowa Heads To Minnesota Diving Invitational

The University of Iowa diving team travels to Minneapolis this week to compete at the Minnesota Diving Invitational.

Hosted by the University of Minnesota, the meet will take place at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center from Thursday through Saturday. The women’s and men’s 1-meter and 3-meter finals will start at 5 p.m. (CT) Thursday and Friday, while platform diving will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

Junior Will Brenner leads the men’s squad off the 1-meter this season with a season-best score 353.65. Freshman Anton Hoherz leads the Hawkeyes off the 3-meter after posting a 387.50 score against Purdue — a score that ranks third all-time in the UI record books. Hoherz was named Big Ten Freshman and Diver of the Week on Oct. 11.

On the women’s side, Junior Jacintha Thomas leads Iowa off the 1-meter with a season-best of 307.60 — the seventh best score in school history. Thomas was named Big Ten Diver of the Week on Oct. 11. Freshman Jayah Mathews is Iowa’s top performer off the 3-meter after posting a season-best score of 315.00 against Michigan State and Northern Iowa, a performance that ranks 10th all-time. Mathews was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Nov. 1.

Following the Minnesota Diving Invitational, Iowa swimmers will travel to Minneapolis for the Minnesota Jean Freeman Invitational from Nov. 30-Dec. 2.
