What Phelps has already done is unbelievable! And we know he will finish up with an incredible summer coming up. Keep SHINING Michael!

I think Lochte made a big mistake about the “this is my time and I don’t care what anyone has to say about it” comment. You won’t hear Michael say anything about that, but you know that it’s eating at him and probably has driven him more than if Lochte wouldn’t have said it. I also don’t think he likes all this Ryan is the greatest swimmer in the world stuff so it’s going to be a drag out dog fight at trials and the Olympics.

It’s not actually his last interview, is it? He just had a sit down with Ryan Seacrest live during the US Open last week sometime. Your video is at Austin from three weeks ago.

I hope so, I really enjoy the interviews with Phelps. As a fan it’s really sad to even see things such as Phelps last interview/trials/olympics.

he will be fast in a few events ! that’s for sure ! A great swimmer like him before retirement wants to set a special time swimming WOW to all fans . Big love for him …he made me start swimming regularly in 2008 after that fabulous 400 free .

400 free? Did you mean 400IM? Phelps did not swim the 400 free in 08 (he actually hates the event more than the IM). Or did you mean the 4×100 free relay (in which case you should really thank Lezak instead).

Michael Phelps has talked about his first world record in 2001 in Austin. I have never watched the race. If somebody could post the video of the race it would be cool. Thank you.

Great intervieuw MEL ! so nice to hear Michael being relaxed and laughing . Amazing that the best swimmer of all time can be so cool , answering questions and having good time while everybody is waiting to see him competing his last olympics soon . Great job , Great people .

Mel, i think he don t need it to be THAT fast in US trials.
He will probably only be semi/to fully/ rested and will be capable to qualify without much pain(like Cielo always does in 50 free in Maria Lenk).
He can even be second in 200IM/FREE at Trials and hold his full power to Olympics.
The big IF is 400IM…

I’m a little concerned about his 100 fly just because he hasn’t been under 52 all year. It’s going to take something under 51 to win the gold so hopefully he’ up to the task.

Actually, i think Phelps will be more than fine in the 100 fly.
I predict that 100 fly will be the easiest of his win in the olympics.

Great job Mel Stewart! Lars Frölander has swum 52.36 in the 100 fly two weeks ago. You must come back.
