Pepperdine Women Set To Ring In New Year At Fresno, Bakersfield

MALIBU, California – The Pepperdine women’s swimming and diving team returns from break with a dual meet in Fresno on Friday and a tri-meet with CSU Bakersfield and Fresno Pacific on Saturday.

Meet 7: Friday (January 14) at Fresno Aquatics Center in Fresno, Calif.: Pepperdine vs. Fresno State at 2:00 p.m.

Meet 8: Saturday (January 15) at John S. Hillman Memorial Aquatic Center in Bakersfield, Calif.: Pepperdine vs. CSU Bakersfield/Fresno Pacific at 12:00 p.m.

The Waves were last in competition at the Trailblazer Invite hosted by Dixie State University from November 18-20, earning an eighth-place finish. Jenna Sanchez (Highland, Calif./East Redlands Valley HS) set a school record in the time trials of the 100 IM with a time of 58.72 on the final day of the invitational.

Additionally, the Waves swept the weekly PCSC awards for the second time as Kara Coughlin (Evergreen, Colo./Evergreen HS) was named PCSC Swimmer of the Week and Lexie Martin (Keller, Texas/Keller HS) was honored as PCSC Diver of the Week following strong individual performances in Utah. This was Martin’s second weekly PCSC honor of the 2021-22 campaign.

Following Saturday’s meet, Pepperdine will be back on the road next weekend for the WCC Cup in San Diego on January 21-22.
