Mixed 200 Medley Relay
NCAP started off the meet with a victory in the mixed 200 medley relay, throwing down a 1:46.98 to take down the Swim Ontario ‘A’ team. Swim Ontario was second with a combined total of 1:47.25, followed by the Swim Ontario ‘B’ team.
Womens 200 Freestyle
Penny Oleksiak and Rebecca Smith had quite the race after putting up similar prelim swims, however it was Oleksiak who took control of the race in the final. Oleksiak and Smith were close together at the 100, but Oleksiak turned on the guns coming home and swam a 1:57.47 to set a new Canadian age group record in the 13-14 category.
Rebecca Smith was also under the previous mark if 1:58.62 with a 1:57.94.
Mens 200 Freestyle
Andrew Seliskar took control of the 200m freestyle final with a swift 1:43.64 to touch first. His closest competitor was Swim Ontario’s Javier Acevedo who clocked in a 1:47.48 to finish second.
Rounding out the top three was Christian Arseneau of MSSAC in 1:48.64.
Womens 100 Breaststroke
The women’s 100m breaststroke went to Olivia Paskulin who swam the fastest 100m breaststroke ever at the Toronto Pan Am Pool. The Point-Claire swimmer threw down a 1:08.03 to break her time from prelims.
Second was Kelsey Wog of the University of Manitoba in 1:09.14 jut ahead of Point-Claire’s Marie-Laurence Godin.
Mens 100 Breaststroke
The men’s 100m breaststroke featured two Americans going head-to-head as Michael Andrew and NCAP’s Carsten Vissering took to the blocks.
The two wrestled back and forth for the entirety of the race but it was Vissering who swam a 59.48 to take down Andrew who also broke the one minute barrier with a 59.71.
Womens 100 Fly
Danika Huizinga of Swim Ontario was a 59.55 in the women’s 100m fly final to take gold ahead of GMAC’s Emma Ball. Ball was a 59.67 to Huizinga’s 59.55.
Kylie Jordan of NCAP was third in 59.76 followed by Monica Babits and Danielle Hanus. Rebecca Smith who finished second in the 200m freestyle final was sixth.
Mens 100 Fly
After a second place finish in the men’s 100m breaststroke Michael Andrew was up again with a short turn-around to swim the men’s 100m fly.
He took control of the race right from the get-go to swim a 52.58, faster than anything he produced on the world cup circuit, and beat Javier Acevedo who posted a 53.61.
Womens 400 IM
Newmarket’s Danielle Hanus had a big win in the 400m IM final clocking in at 4:42.60 to win the event.
She won by almost six full seconds as Lauren Teghtsoonian from Manta was second in 4:48.46.
Coming in third was Etobicoke’s Olivia Anderson in 4:50.65.
Mens 400 IM
Etienne Paquin-Foisy won the women’s 400m IM in a 4:18.56. James Guest was second in 4:21.93.
Amazingly, NCAP swimmer Andrew Seliskar didn’t win the event, but it wasn’t due to slow swimming. Seliskar dropped a 4:04 only to be DQ’ed for submerging on his back to breast transition.
