OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha Swimming and Diving celebrated its senior class at the H&K Pool on Saturday afternoon when it hosted Saint Louis in head-to-head competition between both schools’ men’s and women’s programs.
The Maverick women handled the Billikens on the scoreboard 207-91. Omaha was represented with four of the top five women’s performers led by senior Payton Easley who finished first in three individual races and was part of the women’s 400 free relay team that took first.
Among individual events, Omaha’s women accumulated 11 first-place finishers in the meet, and 17 between second and third place.
Omaha also won two women’s relay events.
Easley’s 23.10 time in the 50 free proved to be the best in the women’s meet when things wrapped up. Easley and senior Hailey Matthews put up two each of the top five performances on Saturday. The top 13 women’s performances from today’s competition belong to the Mavericks.
The men’s team put some strong performances up but ultimately fell short against Saint Louis 130.5-160.5. However, junior Stefan Varga was the leading Maverick for the men’s squad as he tallied three individual wins and finished second as part of the men’s 200 medley relay.
Freshman Aidin Kolb also had a successful day winning the 100 free, was a member of the first-place finishing men’s 200 free relay team and finished second in the 200 free.
In individual events, the men finished the day with six overall first place finishers, and 13 placers between second and third.
The men’s team won the 400 free relay putting up a time of 3:02.42.
Junior Jace Walker put up the best performance of the day for the Omaha men’s team with a 45.31 in the 100 free.
The Mavericks travel to Vermillion S.D. for a Summit League battle with the Coyotes on Friday, Jan. 24 at the DakotaDome Pool at 5 p.m. CT.

OMAHA, Neb. – Brae Sanchez and Ben Mears each won two events to lead Saint Louis to a 160.5-135.5 victory over Omaha Saturday at H&K Pool.
In the women’s competition, Kenna Cashman won twice in SLU’s 207-91 loss.
The Billiken men captured nine wins. Sanchez touched first in the 100 breast (55.11) and 200 breast (2:03.95), while Mears topped the field in 1-meter (278.70) and 3-meter (307.20) diving.
Also posting individual wins were Logan Townsend in the 200 free (1:41.88), Ben Militti in the 500 free (4:40.09), Franklin Liu in the 1000 free (9:41.48) and Jeddrick Gamilla in the 200 IM (1:53.93).
Saint Louis won the 200 medley relay as Evan Crim, Sanchez, Grant Gerl and Colton Mosley clocked a time of 1:30.67.
Cashman claimed victories in the 100 breast (1:05.24) and 200 IM (2:08.94). MaryBeth Clark registered a first-place performance in the 100 fly (57.40).
