Omaha‘s Tranquility Park at the corner of 120th Street and West Maple Road has been selected as the home of a new multi-sport mega-complex that will include housing of one of the pools from the nearby 2012 Olympic Trials, according to the Omaha World Herald.

Tranquility Park already has tennis courts and soccer fields, but if the plan meets all approvals and moves forward (developers only need to raise another $100,000 of their $1.1 million goal to buy the property) then it would become a huge amateur sports complex. The tennis arena would seat 6,500 spectators, 2,000 swimming spectators, and include a second warm-up pool.

The other pool was purchased by Charles River Aquatics in the Boston area.

The city is hoping that this and other privately-backed developments will help boost the city’s economy in the youth sports market.
