Men’s Meet
CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State lost to Oakland 158.5-141.5 on Senior Day inside the Busbey Natatorium. During the meet, the Vikings honored their ten seniors; Timothy Kubacki, Dominik Niedzialek, Trevor Mahoney, Jacob Cole, Daniel Frederick, Austin Harper, Jack Krusinski, Bob Lenart, Griffin Manning, and CJ Levand.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cleveland State won both diving events on the night with Mahoney in 3-meter diving (267.00) and Faulisi in 1-meter diving (280.20).
- The 200-yard medley relay team of Thomas, Krusinski, Fick, and Johnston finished as the runner-up to open the meet, clocking a 1:31.21.
- The Vikings finished first and second in the 1000-yard freestyle with Nester (9:29.65) and Jake Taulbee (9:38.08).
- In the 100-yard backstroke, the Green and White went 2-3-4 with Kubacki (49.42), Niedzialek (49.75), and Thomas (50.85).
- Krusinski (55.99) placed second and Manning (56.62) took third in the 100-yard breaststroke.
- Fick (1:50.16) edged teammate, Johnston (1:50.27) in the 200-yard butterfly to win the event.
- Johnston sprinted to a runner-up finish in the 100-yard freestyle, touching in 45.20.
- Cleveland State grabbed the second through fourth spots in the 200-yard backstroke with Kubacki (1:47.34), Niedzialek (1:49.69), and Nester (1:51.26)
- In the 200-yard breaststroke, Krusinski won with a 2:04.73, and Manning placed third with a 2:07.33.
- Fick was the runner-up in the 100-yard butterfly, sprinting to a time of 49.33.
- Kubacki won the final individual race of the evening, the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:51.56.
- The Vikings capped off senior night in style by winning the 200-yard freestyle relay with Thomas, Eberhardt, Merchbaker, and Johnston with a time of 1:22.41.
UP NEXT
Cleveland State will swim for the final time before the Horizon League Championships tomorrow in Columbus, Ohio against Ohio State. The dual is set to start at noon.
Women’s Meet
CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State fell to Oakland 217-78 on Senior Day inside the Busbey Natatorium on Friday evening. During the meet, the Vikings honored their two seniors; Agnes Bahr and Emily Deitz.

- Rachel Contich (200-yard Freestyle/1:54.23), (500-yard Freestyle/5:05.66)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Mackenzie Lipnick was the runner-up in the 1000-yard freestyle, swimming a 10:43.02.
- Contich won a pair of events on the evening, 200-yard freestyle (1:54.23) and 500-yard freestyle (5:05.66).
- In the 100-yard backstroke, Caroline Hughes came in second, finishing in 59.44.
- The Vikings went second and third in the 50-yard freestyle with Reagan St. Clair (24.68) and Deitz (25.00).
- Brooke Eichel placed third in both diving events.
- Lauren Lewis finished second in the 200-yard backstroke, clocking a 2:06.53.
- In the 200-yard breaststroke, Kellsie Krisch took the second spot, touching the wall in 2:23.29.

Cleveland State will swim for the final time before the Horizon League Championships tomorrow in Athens, Ohio against Ohio and Bowling Green. The meet is set to start at noon.

CLEVELAND — The Oakland men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams defeated Cleveland State in its last regular season meet of the season 217-78 on the women’s side and 158.5-141.5 on the men’s side from Busbey Natatorium.
“There are so many positives to take away from today’s meet vs Cleveland State! The kids’ preparation all week was fantastic,” Head Coach Pete Hovland said. “We didn’t have to talk about what it would take to come away with a victory. The men knew it was going to be a real challenge, especially on the road and they handled everything with a quiet calm. As always, in meets like today, you need a few people to step up and we had a few. The energy and enthusiasm they brought with them today was also a good sign, as we put the finishing touches to the dual meet portion of our season. It was a very satisfying ending as we now look forward to fully engage our taper in preparation for the HL championships.”
The Golden Grizzlies started off the meet in dominating fashion, earning a first place finish in both the men’s and women’s 200 medley relay. The women’s team of Susan LaGrand, Taylor Bailey, Mia Keranen and Jordyn Shipps touched the wall first in 1:44.13. On the men’s side, Marko Khotynetskyi, Christian Bart, Mack Flowers and Rudy Agular took the top spot in 1:29.40.
Oakland swept the 100 backstroke, Jewel Huang (58.89) and Khotynetski (48.41), 100 breaststroke, Taylor Bailey (1:04.35) and Christian Bart (54.45) 100 free, Shipps (51.72) and Bart (44.92) and 100 fly, Sophia Davis (56.85) and Mack Flowers (48.49) led the way as first place finishers.
In diving, Ellie Chalifoux finished first in both the one and three meter recording a 278.70 and 271.80 respectively.
Oakland will compete in the Horizon League Championships Feb. 16-19 in Indianapolis.
