Nevada Women Earn Dominant Win Over Cal State East Bay In Season-Opener

RENO, Nev. – Nevada Swim opened their season with a dominant victory over Cal State East Bay, winning 156-81 at Lombardi Pool. The Wolf Pack took first in all 13 events, showcasing depth and strength across multiple strokes and distances.

The meet began with a powerful performance in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of Scarlett FerrisSara MihalicYasmin Perry, and Abby Parks clocked in at 1:42.39 to secure the first win of the day.

Enkhkhuslen Batbayar led Nevada’s individual victories in the 200-yard freestyle, posting an impressive time of 1:50.74. Ferris followed with a first-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke (55.36), while Mihalic captured the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:04.88. Perry added to the Pack’s tally, winning the 50-yard butterfly in 25.51.

 At the halfway mark, Nevada held a commanding lead of 91-21.

 The momentum continued as Parks won the 100-yard freestyle in 52.79, Ferris took another first-place finish in the 50-yard backstroke (25.10), and Mihalic added the 50-yard breaststroke win (29.97). Batbayar’s second victory came in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:00.65. Perry secured another butterfly win, taking the 100-yard event in 55.60, while Mihalic finished off her individual events with a win in the 100-yard IM (58.64).

Nevada closed the meet with a dominating performance in the 200-yard freestyle relay, as Ferris, Noelle Harvey, Perry, and Parks posted a time of 1:34.91.

 Next, Nevada Swim will travel to UC Davis on October 19.

RENO, Nev. – At Lombardi Pool on Saturday, the Cal State East Bay women’s swimming team showcased their determination and skill against a formidable Nevada Wolfpack squad. Despite a valiant effort in their second meet of the season, the Pioneers fell to the Wolfpack with a final score of 156-81. The meet, mostly featuring sprint events, saw the Nevada team clinching first place in all 13 events.

  • Tehani Kong emerged as a standout performer for the Pioneers, demonstrating her versatility across multiple events. Kong’s 25.89-second finish in the 50-yard butterfly secured her a well-deserved second place. She continued to impress in the 100-yard butterfly, touching the wall at 58.34 seconds for another runner-up spot. Kong’s prowess extended to the 100-yard individual medley, where she claimed third place with a time of 1:03.74.
  • Kali Mull powered through the 200-yard freestyle, clinching third place with a time of 1:59.87. Brooklyn Dressel made waves in the 100-yard freestyle, securing second place with a swift 53.79-second finish.
  • In the 50-yard backstroke, Lily Caraway claimed second place in with a time of 27.74 seconds.
  • Kylie Beaudet proved to be a force in the breaststroke, finishing second in the 50-yard race at a time of 33.13 seconds. Beaudet’s talents weren’t limited to a single stroke, as she also claimed runner-up in the 100-yard individual medley, clocking in at 1:03.15.
  • Emilie Giannini secured second place in the grueling 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:30.86.
  • Alexia Fajardo set a new personal best time in the 100-yard individual medley of 1:06.26.

The Pioneers are setting their sights on the upcoming Slug Shootout. This exciting two-day event, scheduled for October 18-19 at the UCSC Pool in Santa Cruz, California, promises to be another opportunity for the Pioneers to showcase their talents and continue their growth as a team.
