Missy Franklin Celebrates Birthday with Prince Harry

While the swimming community rallied around the Charlotte Ultraswim, CIF and U.S. Masters Nationals, Olympic swim star Missy Franklin celebrated her 18th birthday with Prince Harry.

Franklin could’ve been battling out the 200 freestyle in Charlotte against Allison Schmitt and Chloe Sutton, but noooooo….she chose to hang with the Prince of Wales. Can you blame her? Of course not!

May 10th was the big day in Colorado Springs.  Prince Harry participated in the sing-along, wishing Franklin a happy birthday to you.

According to People, Franklin explained that she’s a big fan of the royal family:

“All my friends can’t believe how lucky I am to be here. Everyone just has so much respect for Prince Harry.”

This get-together was not a social occasion. Franklin,  four-time Olympic gold medalist,  joined Prince Harry on a brief, last leg of a torch relay to officially start the Warrior Games for wounded service members. Over two hundred British and U.S. servicemen and women participated.

Prince Harry, famous for his freewheeling party ways, has real cred with soldiers because he served in Afghanistan with British forces.

Franklin will be back in the pool competing at the USA Swimming Santa Clara Grand Prix, May 30th through June 2nd.
