Minnesota Reels In Verbal Commitment from Fast-Rising Evan Yoder

Evan Yoder, a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American from Lawrence Free State High School in Lawrence, Kansas, has verbally committed to the University of Minnesota for 2017-18. Yoder swims year-round for Lawrence Aquahawks, where he specializes in breaststroke and IM. He will be joining his teammate Jordan Portela in the Golden Gophers’ class of 2021.

Yoder represented Lawrence Free State at the 2016 Kansas Boys 6A State Championships, where he placed 2nd in the 200 IM and 6th in the 100 breast. The previous year he had been 9th and 8th in those respective events at the 5-1A State Meet. Yoder has come a long way since his freshman season, dropping 20 seconds per 50 in his breaststrokes, culminating in achieving a Winter Juniors cut in the 200 breast this summer. He has been equally as impressive in his IM progression.
