Men’s Meet
MILWAUKEE – Behind ten individual victories and a pair of relay wins, the Milwaukee men’s swim and dive team improved to 3-3 this season with a 186-55 win over St. Thomas Friday evening inside the Klotsche Natatorium.
The Panthers were led by an impressive performance on the boards by Jared Kleczka. The junior tallied his sixth and seventh individual wins on the season and set a new personal best on the one-meter board with a score of 319.28. Kleczka also won the three-meter with a score of 331.28.
Adam St. John recorded a pair of runner-up finishes behind Kleczka but posted career bests on both boards. St. John finished with a score of 300.38 on the three-meter and 306.90 on the one-meter.
Jay Jensen also added a pair of individual wins, bringing his season total to seven. Jensen claimed the top spot in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 9:40.48 and won the 500 free at 4:42.99. In both events, Vince Chiappetta was runner-up posting times of 9:50.22 (1000 free) and 4:46.56 (500 free).
“It was great to get our last weekend of dual meets off to such a great start,” head coach Kyle Clements said. “As our season starts to come to an end our team members are in a lot of different places in their training. The group that is finishing their season this weekend turned in multiple lifetime bests, season bests, and won multiple events for us today. They are offering the rest of the roster a glimpse of great swims to come.”
In the 100 free, Jonathan Kollen touched the wall at 47.85 to finish first while Griffin Hawley was close behind at 48.96 for second. Hawley finished runner-up in the 50 free (21.70), finishing just behind John Ruan (21.64).
Four other Panthers earned individual wins, including Robert Petersen, who posted his top time on the season in the 100 butterfly (51.78). Ben Huynh won the 100 backstroke at 52.82 and Brady Basile won the 200 free with a time of 1:44.90. Zach McClellan collected a win in the 200 IM at 1:57.54.
Milwaukee recorded a pair of relay wins in the meet, with the team of Ben Huynh, Sam Hauke, Hayden Christiansen, and Ruan winning the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:35.24. Ruan, Ben Lorenz, Jensen, and Hawley won the 200 free at 1:25.34.
The Panthers will close the regular season tomorrow, as divers will compete at the UIC Diving Invitational at 11 a.m. while the rest of the team hosts UW-Stevens Point at 3:30 p.m. inside the Klotsche Natatorium.
“We are looking forward to finishing out the dual meet season tomorrow,” Clements said. “We also get to recognize our seniors who will be swimming their last meet here in Milwaukee.”
Women’s Meet
MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee women’s swim and dive team improved to 6-0 on the season, defeating St. Thomas 168-72 in a dual Friday evening inside the Klotsche Natatorium.
The Panthers tallied nine individual victories against the Tommies, adding seven runner-up finishes in the meet.
The team showed well in the freestyle events, winning all five. Nhia Caras continued to add to her impressive freshman campaign, earning her ninth individual win of the season and fourth in the 100 free, touching the wall at 52.01. Kelen McDaniels finished second in the event, posting a time of 54.08.
Natalie Hey recorded her top time on the season in the 50 free, placing first at 24.38. Angela Kordik and Paige Murphy tied for second in the event with each finishing at 25.29. Kordik earned a win in the 100 breaststroke, swimming to a time of 1:06.03.

Allie Buytendrop collected her fourth individual win of the season and second in the 200 free with a time of 1:58.82. Cassandra Hutchins followed close behind for second at 1:57.43. In the 500 free, Antoni Haupt (5:16.23) and Sydney Dahl (5:17.72) took home to top two spots.
Three other Panthers earned individual victories, including Sasha Gesner (17:52.77) in the 1650 free, Megan Greenley (59.02) in the 100 butterfly, and Amber Secrist (59.73) in the 100 backstroke.
McKenzie Sanchez paced the diving efforts for Milwaukee, placing first on the one-meter board with a season-best score of 280.35. She also placed second on the three-meter board with a score of 230.70.
Milwaukee saw success in the relay events as well, including the top time this season in the 200 free relay. The team of Bella Passamani, Molly Meland, Caras, and Hutchins touched the wall at 1:38.53 to finish first. Skylar Ruggles, Kordik, Passamani, and McDaniels also picked up a win in the 200 medley with a time of 1:48.28.

Milwaukee, Wis. – The St. Thomas men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams competed in duals at Milwaukee in Milwaukee, Wis. on Friday. The teams also sent student-athletes to the First-Chance Meet in Minneapolis, Minn. as part of a split meet.
Against the Panthers, both the men’s and women’s squads were tripped up, with the women’s team losing 168-72, and the men’s team losing 186-55.
In the dual meet at Milwaukee, A.J. Carollo, Will Goldman, Jake Appino, and Garrett Riley combined for a second-place finish in the 200 Yard Medley Relay. Joe Rudd, a freshman for the Tommies, raced to first in the 100 Yard Breaststroke (58.97) and second place in the 200 Yard IM. Alex Foti finished third in the 1000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 9:57.89. Foti also finished in third in the 500 Yard Freestyle. John Gahnz notched third in the 100 Yard Freestyle (49.35).
Skyler Leverenz tallied first in the 200 Yard IM, finishing with a time of 2:11.55. Allison An finished first in the 3 Meter Dive for the Tommies with a finals score of 239.18. Sophie Curran completed the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 59.90, good for second. Elizabeth Bonneville continued her successful freshman campaign with a top-two time (18:28.24) in the 1650 Yard Freestyle against the Panthers. Ellie Sizemore followed up with a third-place time of 18:55.02 in the event. Ashley Plantenberg raced to third in the 200 Yard Freestyle (2:00.59).
