Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Ethan McCosh has committed to Milligan University in Milligan College, Tennessee. He hails from Hickory, North Carolina, where he swims club for the Hickory Foundation/Catawaba Valley YMCA.

It’s a great university! I love the campus atmosphere and the sportsmanship of the team. I also believe that Coach Scarth will help me enhance my abilities throughout my college career.

McCosh’s versatility shined through at the 18&U Winter Championships hosted by the TAC Titans in North Carolina, where he swam the 100-500 free, 100-200 fly, and 200 IM. His 200 fly was his standout event at this meet with a time drop of a tenth, dipping under 1:53 for the first time. His other events were just slightly off his bests.

He represents Fred T. Foard High School out of Newton, NC during the high school season. At the 1A/2A (smallest schools) State Championships in 2020, McCosh made the B-final in the 200 free and the A-final in the 100 fly, finishing 10th and 8th, respectively. He was the only individual event qualifier for Foard, and a key piece for their 200 medley and 400 free relays, where he split a 24.1 on the fly leg of the medley relay, and anchored the 400 free relay in a 50.8.

Top Times SCY:

  • 50 Free- 22.42
  • 100 Free- 48.17
  • 200 Free- 1:44.47
  • 500 Free- 4:37.41
  • 100 Fly- 50.62
  • 200 Fly- 1:52.93

Milligan University participates in the Appalachian Athletic Conference of the NAIA, where they were third out of eight teams in the 2020 edition of the AAC Conference Championships.

McCosh is a huge get for Milligan. At the 2020 conference championships, he would have won the 500 free, earned bronze in the 100 and 200 fly, snagged fifth place in the 100 and 200 free, and made the B-final in the 50. His freestyle range will also help Milligan’s relays, as he would have earned spots on the 200, 400, and 800 free relays, all of which were in the A-final.

His current bests surpass the school record in the 100 and 200 fly, along with the 500 free. His 500 in particular smashes that record by over 10 seconds, while his fly events surpass the records by two and five seconds, respectively.

He will suit up for Milligan’s class of 2025 alongside Nicholas Harviel, Isaiah Silviera, Cole Brusher, Adam Karakurt, AJ Stralow, and Antonio Medina

Congratulations Ethan! Come a long way from swim practice in trunks as a 12 year old. Knew you’d be great.
