Earlier this week a petition was started on Change.org asking for the resignation of Kiril Todorov, who is the current president of the Mexican Swimming Federation (FMN). The petition has more than 1000 signatures and it refers to the current situation of all Mexican aquatic sports as the worst in history. According to the petition, the following are a reflection of the “chaotic” situation in all Mexican aquatic sports:
- The falsificaton of entry times of swimmers at the 2015 World Championsips in Kazan, Russia.
- The suspension of the Mexican Federation earlier this year by FINA for a failure to pay the $5 million fine associated with their withdraw from hosting duties of the 2017 World Championships
-
Last minute cancellation of national events caused by economic reasons.
- The Mexican Swimming Federation made a mistake and forgot to do the entries for the 2015 World University Games.
Todorov has already resigned his post with the FINA Technical Committee.
On May 4, 2016 the Mexican Swimming Federation released a statement regarding the information published on Change.org.
“Unfortunately, this letter is part of the smear campaign by some former swimmers that since the election of the current board in 2009 have sought to destabilize the institution”. – Mexican Swimming Federation
